Drugs. Debauchery. Danger. Desperation. Delhi.
A bender to end all benders.
Legendary Delhi based Menwhopause's 2017 masterpiece Neon Delhi was to be a concept album that encapsulated Delhi in its most primal, grimy, and greasy goodness. The lead single and video, On a Boat, was just that compressed in a song.
The video was shot in one night, in Delhi's notorious has-been hip cultural party district Hauz Khas Village. Much like the decaying seediness of his environment, the protagonist stumbles through the night for one more fix, one more hit, just anything to not face reality. The style chosen was dirty, handheld, imperfect, and colourful. Almost like a hallucination on some questionably cut stuff. Lonely, desperate, and hilariously sad, the band's manager Sahaj embodied the character perfectly.
